Since 1966
A Tradition of Friends
In the early 1960s, a small group of high school friends began going to Lake Wateree to enjoy the water, sun and partying. A year or two after graduation, a holiday attempt to bring everyone together resulted in a cry of “Let’s cook a pig!”
That first party with a pig-picking was in December 1966, reuniting high school friends who had scattered to colleges, universities, military service, or careers. A few years later, the party moved to the Lake Murray home of Steve Morris, where it remained until 1993.
The Pig Party found its current home at Mill Creek Hunt Club in 1994. Since 1969, inviting guests and providing musical entertainment have been standard features. To this day the purpose remains a gathering of old friends.
